Product Carbon Footprint
PCF Studies That Support Product-Level Carbon Decisions
We help product teams quantify carbon intensity at the SKU, product family, or portfolio level so they can answer customer requests, compare design options, and understand where emissions are actually being created.

Why teams commission PCF work
Product carbon footprint work is especially useful where customers, procurement teams, EPD programs, or internal product design decisions require a focused carbon view rather than a full organizational inventory. We structure the work so assumptions, boundaries, and data quality remain transparent.
Coverage
Built for organizations operating in India and international markets where sustainability, carbon, and disclosure expectations need to hold up across multiple stakeholder contexts.
Scope Highlights
What We Typically Cover
ISO 14067 product carbon footprint methodology support
PCF calculation services for products, packaging, and intermediate goods
Product emissions calculation and carbon intensity assessment
Decision support for eco-design, supplier review, and product portfolio comparison
Common Use Cases
Where This Work Fits Best
Customer disclosure requests
Respond to buyer or procurement questions with a documented product-level carbon footprint study.
Product redesign and sourcing changes
Compare alternate materials, suppliers, packaging formats, or process routes before scaling decisions.
EPD and sustainability documentation
Develop the analytical foundation that can support environmental product declaration preparation and related product sustainability work.
Delivery Outputs
What Clients Receive
The output is designed to be usable by leadership, sustainability teams, operations teams, and external-facing stakeholders without diluting the technical basis behind the work.
Defined product system boundary and functional unit documentation
PCF model with material, energy, transport, and process contributions
Carbon hotspot view across the product value chain
Summary outputs for customer communication and internal product teams
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a product carbon footprint (PCF)?
A product carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas emissions linked to one unit of a product, expressed in kg CO2e, usually from raw materials to the factory gate (cradle-to-gate) or across the full life cycle (cradle-to-grave).
Which standard is used for PCF studies?
We follow ISO 14067 for product carbon footprints, with the GHG Protocol Product Standard and relevant Product Category Rules used where customers or programmes require them.
Do Indian exporters need product carbon footprints for EU CBAM?
CBAM requires EU importers of covered goods such as iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers and hydrogen to report the embedded emissions of those goods, and those figures come from the producer. Indian exporters in these sectors are therefore asked for installation and product-level emissions data, which a PCF study helps prepare.
What data is needed for a PCF?
Bill of materials, purchased material quantities and suppliers, energy and fuel use at the plant, production volumes, packaging and transport details. Where supplier-specific data is missing, we use documented secondary emission factors and flag them for improvement.
How long does a PCF study take?
A PCF for a single product or product family typically takes 3 to 6 weeks once the core production and energy data are available.
